Formation in the way of Jesus

It is our desire to see “the fame and deeds of God renewed and known in our time” (Habakkuk 3:2) by pursuing the tangible presence of God, practicing counter-formation in the way of Jesus, and living on sacrificial mission for the renewal of the city. We believe that integrating these three things - presence, formation, and mission - is at the heart of the ministry of Jesus, and is the unique calling of the church in our time and place in history. In the formation department we provide courses, workshops, and seasonal formation events in order to equip you to be more deeply transformed into a disciple of Jesus.

Courses

  • In Men's Discipleship is based on the Great Commission to be a disciple of Jesus who makes disciples. We study how to be a follower of Jesus, living in and for His kingdom. (Note: This is a two part course - fall and spring - but can be taken in either order, ie, is non-sequential.) We will be joining Women’s Discipleship bi-weekly for biblical teaching, then gather in men-only, mentor-led groups on alternate weeks. We encourage you to join us this season, and believe that if you fully enter into this process with your whole self - you will be changed.

  • We want moms to know that even in a stage of life with the narrowest of margins, we actually have a unique opportunity to draw close to the heart of Jesus and live out our callings like never before. We create space for lively discussion and deep relationships, and provide some essential tools (both practical and spiritual) for living in victory and joy in this season.

    Childcare is provided.

  • The Marriage Course is for couples who are seeking to strengthen their relationship in any season of their marriage from the early years to decades in. Some couples take the course to intentionally invest in their relationship, refreshing it and build their toolkit, and others are looking to address specific challenges. Either way, the course offers tools and practical ideas to help build the relationship that lasts a lifetime.

  • We believe that everyone is created for a specific purpose within the Kingdom, and has access to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We invite you to come participate in the Gifts Course this season, grow in your understanding of the gifts of the Spirit, and learn how to utilize your gifts for the building up of the church body.

  • In this seven week course, we will learn theological foundations and biblical tools that empower us to be the bridge between people divided by racial and cultural differences, while building relationships and working through the reconciliation process ourselves, through the structure of the Be the Bridge framework. We will share stories of and opportunities for internal and external change. We invite people of all racial and cultural backgrounds to engage in this important process.

  • This course will explore emotional health from a perspective that is both Biblical and psychologically-sound. Weekly classes will include video teaching by Rob Reimer and gender-specific breakout sessions for processing emotional health topics and receiving prayer. Come learn more about how your relationship with God can be strengthened, renewed, and healed; and in turn, learn how your healthier relationship with God can translate into a healthier version of you.

  • In this six week course, you will get practical teaching on missional theology, paradigms, and practices to be a missional disciple of Jesus in secular culture. You will leave this course with a better understanding of our missional calling, and how to integrate this into your vocation and life.

  • Understanding the Bible is a course created to help both new or seasoned believers build a strong theological foundation. We believe it’s healthy and right for believers to ask questions about their faith - and that the best place to start is with the Bible. Over the 7-week course, we explore the storyline of the entire Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) through the lens of one full Gospel. Along the way, we uncover links between the New and Old Testaments and read and study a bit from every literary style represented in the Bible.

Since everyone learns differently, we have carefully curated and created content that is conveyed through a variety of media, including videos, podcasts, articles, sermons, music, and books. Additionally, each week we teach a new practical tool to aid in the study and meditation of Scripture. Whether you just completed Alpha, or whether you have been a Christian for years, this course will help you build a solid foundation in your faith.

One of the ways we do this is by teaching believers the foundations of our faith, Scripture and theology through offering several courses every season aimed at nurturing and training Christians in their understanding.
