Each week we say a liturgy that comes directly from Scripture and was crafted by trusted voices in our community as a way to form our hearts out of the ways of this world, and into the way of Jesus. 

We want to close gap between our current standards of generosity and the Kingdom standards taught by Jesus, and  we want to invite you to join in what God is doing here at Church of the City. 

We believe this can happen in three ways:

1. If you are not already giving, we invite you to start giving. 

2. If you are giving periodically, we invite you to begin regular, recurring donations.

3. If you have been giving regularly, thank you so much! We invite you to ask God if there are any ways He is inviting you into further generosity.

If you call Church of the City your home, consistently enjoy our content and teachings, or want to support the work God is doing in our church, we encourage you to sincerely pray about the asks above, and let the Spirit lead you forward.

LIVING THE LITURGY + FINANCIAL UPDATES

We are taking a look back at the remarkable things God has been able to release in our church through the generosity of our community.

  • In 2021, we committed to investing a significant portion of this offering to building out our Next Gen Ministry, and we invite you to check out the impact your giving has had over the last few years in the video above. 

    Through your generosity, our Next Gen Ministry has not only radically blessed our own church, but is becoming a blessing to the city. We are so grateful for the generosity of this community that is for the Next Generation.

  • In 2022, we committed part of our Living the Liturgy Offering to becoming a church that could serve as a patron of the arts and cultivate a community of redemptive artists. We invite you to check out the impact your giving has had over the last few years in the video above. 

    Through your generosity, forty artists have been commissioned to create new work to bless our church and this city in just two years. We are so grateful for the generosity of this community that is for renewal in the Arts.

Generosity Liturgy

We invite you to take a moment and read our Generosity Liturgy that we say together corporately, every Sunday, as a practice of counter-formation, to cultivate our hearts in the direction of generosity.

Holy Father, there is nothing I have that You have not given me. All I have and am belong to You, bought with the blood of Jesus. To spend everything on myself, and to give without sacrifice, is the way of the world that You cannot abide.

But generosity is the way of those who call Christ their Lord; who love Him with free hearts and serve Him with renewed minds. Who withstand the delusion of riches that chokes the word; Whose hearts are in your kingdom and not in the systems of the world.

I am determined to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us. I am determined to be trustworthy with such a little thing as money that You may trust me with true riches.

Above all, I am determined to be generous because You, Father, are generous. It is the delight of Your daughters and sons to share Your traits, and to show what You are like to all the world.

Amen.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

  • Many supporters choose to make charitable gifts by transferring securities to Church of the City New York. Gifting stock is a simple and powerful way to follow Jesus’ teaching and steward resources to build the Kingdom.

    • It also offers donors a number of financial benefits:
      Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds is easy

    • The total value of the stock upon transfer is tax-deductible

    • There is no obligation to pay capital gains taxes on the appreciation
